Part of a balanced

Howdy, partner
Well hello there, my name's Mike (né Michael John Ayles).  Since you're here, you must be wondering who I am.  Let us, then, get down to brass tacks.

I was born and raised in the south east of Quebec, in a place called the Eastern Townships.  Aside from a brief two-year stint in New York state, the first sixteen years of my life were spent in the towns of Iron Hill and Knowlton.  Country living didn't suit me very well, so in 1996 I moved to Montreal to get me some learnin'.  I graduated first from CEGEP (don't ask) and more recently from McGill University with a degree in phyics.  I also had a minor in music technology, evidence of which you will probably never see.

For reasons that completely elude me, I spent a year teaching high-school science in Ste-Agathe-des-Monts, and then I went to Europe for two months. I'm back now.

My press clippings. Er, clipping.

(Above) This is the sort of thing that people say about me. Nice people, at least.
Stoic hero of the banj-oh!

A great deal of my life revolves around music, be it in the form of bands, sessions, or what have you.  I also like geek stuff, cats, sleeping, General Tao chicken and Flook. Long ago, I promised to scan in some photographs of me that were lying around. Instead of doing all that work, I got a digital camera, so there are actually a number of relatively recent photos of me scattered throughout this page. The one to the left was actually taken by my friend Thomas, though.

Oh yes, I should maybe mention that this is my second webpage.  It was created on March 7, 2001 in a fit of productivity, and mostly for the sake of practicing my HTML design.  I actually used Macromedia Dreamweaver to make the pages, and Adobe Illustrator, Graphic Workshop Professional and Photoshop to make the pretty pictures.

It seems that the HOB was also sort of redesigned in April 2002, after 11 months of inactivity.

(Left) I may look like I'm asleep, but the lighting's pretty damn cool
